The signing of Amendment 6 between the FNP (National Federation of Podiatrists) and the CNAM (National Health Insurance Fund) marks a major step forward for podiatry professionals. Starting in January 2025, this development will allow podiatrists to reduce their social security contributions through the inclusion of orthotics in the SNIR (National Interprofessional Distribution System). This is excellent news for the profession, which will benefit from more advantageous conditions.

A key measure for the profession of chiropodists/podiatrists

The main new feature of this amendment is the integration of the reimbursement base for foot orthotics, set at €28.86 , into the calculation of the SNIR.

As a reminder, the SNIR (National Inter-Scheme Reimbursement Scheme) groups together the agreed fees of healthcare professionals and plays a key role in reducing social security contributions. Thanks to this change, podiatrists under the PAM (Health Insurance Scheme) will see their health insurance contributions drop from 9.75% to just 0.1% on income derived from the SNIR.

These changes will also have a positive impact on the ASV (Supplementary Old-Age Allowance) portion for professionals, which will be increased. This reduction in contributions will be taken into account in 2026 , based on income earned in 2025.

Simplification of conditions for POD procedures: what changes for podiatrists

Alongside this social advancement, Amendment 6 modifies the conditions for performing POD procedures. Until now, podiatrists who graduated before 2010 had to provide a certificate to be able to perform these procedures, in accordance with Article 3.2 of the agreement.

This requirement will be eliminated in January 2025. For over 10 years, POD training has been integrated into the initial curriculum for podiatrists, rendering this requirement obsolete. This welcome simplification recognizes the skills of practitioners and their initial training.

The FNP: a constant commitment to professionals

After achieving significant progress on the pedicure aspect with amendment 5 , the FNP continues its commitment to the profession by signing this amendment 6. The latter enhances podiatry, a field that until now has been outside the conventional scope.

These results demonstrate a positive trend for all podiatrists. By reducing social security contributions, while recognizing podiatric practice as a whole, the FNP confirms its essential role in representing and defending the interests of professionals.

And then what?

While Amendment 6 represents a significant step forward, the FNP maintains that there is still work to be done. The Federation is already working on new demands to ensure that the national agreement offers more concrete benefits to podiatrists.

The objective is clear: to fully recognize the crucial role of podiatrists in the healthcare system and to further reduce their social security contributions. The FNP remains committed and ready to continue negotiations with the National Health Insurance.
